In the late 1970’s Medema Homes started developing the subdivision by building 225 homes before the real estate market in Denver hit bottom in the early 1980’s. Medema went out of business and the growth of Canterbury stopped. In the 1990’s the real estate market started its comeback and Richmond Homes and Premier West came in built homes on the remaining open lots. Most of the homes for sale in Canterbury are 2-storys with a few ranch and multi-level homes with 2,400 – 4,300 finished square feet including a basement.
